What You Need To Know About Takata Airbag Safety Recall

In line with Toyota’s global policy, Al-Futtaim has initiated a recall campaign to replace Takata-produced front airbag inflators.

The reason for this is certain types of airbag inflators manufactured by Takata were found to have potential for moisture intrusion over time. Depending on the circumstances, this could create excessive internal pressure when the airbag is deployed and cause the inflator to rupture. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking and possibly injuring the occupants in the event of an accident.

Affected owners will be notified by Al-Futtaim to bring their vehicle in for the service action. The replacement is carried out at no cost and typically takes around 2.5 hours and includes a complimentary minor service along with interior and exterior cleaning.
