How Often Does a Car Need Maintenance?

To make sure that your car doesn't let you down, it needs to be regularly maintained. If you stay on top of those interim and major service points, you should have years of trouble-free motoring. However, there are things you can do on a weekly or monthly basis that can prevent significant failures or breakdowns from ruining your driving experience. So how often does your car need maintenance?

Checks for every time you drive
It can be tempting just to unlock the door, jump in, and drive off. But before you do, a few seconds giving your car a quick visual check will help minimise problems. Glance at your tyres. Do they look a little soft? Not only do under-inflated tyres present a potentially dangerous blow-out risk, but you’ll use up a lot more fuel if your tyres are even a pound under pressure. If your rubber looks a little flat, stop at your local garage forecourt and use the airline to bring them up to the manufacturer’s guidelines. A visual check of your windscreen may identify stone chips or small cracks that need to be tackled before they become big cracks.

Weekly checks
Most people wash their car and clean it once a week. This is your chance to do a few more checks, under the hood such as fluid levels (including screen wash engine oil level, brake oil and e.t.c...) and a closer inspection of your tyres. If they're looking worn, or you notice vibrations or handling issues, book a session with our Tyre Replacement & Maintenance team at Al-Futtaim Toyota. They will be able to change your worn tyres and make sure your wheels are balanced.

Interim and major services
These are the important ones. Not only do they give a qualified and experienced technician the chance to do an in-depth examination of your vehicle, but they're also a vital component of your car's 'provenance'. If you decide to sell your vehicle, potential buyers will want to see a full-service history at the appropriate points (usually at key kilometre points such as 10,000km or six months whichever comes first ). If any of those service stamps are missing, it can affect the value of your car.

A package deal
One of the best ways to ensure your maintenance program stays fully up to date is to take advantage of a service package. Whether your vehicle is brand new or a pre-owned model, there are service packages available at Al-Futtaim Toyota to suit. For new Toyotas, you can choose a contract package that offers up to 70% savings on your service and maintenance costs. Plans are available with a variety in range irrespective of the age / Kilometres and you can also customise the contract packages based on your budget and number of services this contract is also can be transferred when you sell your car in the UAE.

Great service packages are available for pre-owned cars for between one and four years, giving you big savings on your maintenance costs.

A package deal is one of the cheapest and best ways to keep up to date with your car maintenance in the UAE. Not only do they represent a considerable saving over paying for each maintenance session individually, but they take away the worry and hassle of remembering when that interim service is due.

Once you buy contract package you don’t need to worry on price changes as the current market conditions are so versatile you never know what your service price is after one year, so better to lock your cost in advance.

For more information on maintenance and servicing, contact the team at Al-Futtaim Toyota, and they'll be happy to help answer any of your questions. Alternatively, book in for any of our service products today.
