There’s no question that the Toyota Land Cruiser has an impressive heritage. It’s the granddaddy the Toyota land cruiser pick up of the Toyota off-roaders, with a lineage going all the way back to 1951. The Land Cruiser is the longest-running series of models produced by Toyota, and has a special place in the hearts of anyone who has ever had to work in a challenging environment. Put simply, it’s a true workhorse that never lets you down.
The newest variants of this doyenne of the dusty trails are the Land Cruiser Pick Ups, which manage to pack in even more practicality as working vehicles, thanks to a flatbed cargo area with drop-down tailgate. But don’t for a moment think that the inclusion of this practical and spacious exterior cargo space means that the internal comforts have been compromised – the Land Cruiser Pick Up has all the creature comforts you could wish for.
The Land Cruiser Pick Up comes in three basic models – a single cabin, a double cabin, and a hard top version. All three have powerful 4.0Ltr V6, normally aspirated engines. But Toyota has shaved off a considerable amount of dead weight in the new models, which means a far better power/weight ratio delivering better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The handling is also much more responsive, enabling you to tackle the toughest of terrain with ease. Put them back on the tarmac and they behave impeccably, making them equally at home for those trips into the city as they are out in the desert or tackling tough mountain tracks.
The styling is true to the vintage Land Cruiser look, with a few little extras to bring it bang up to date such as a chrome-plated rear bumper and 16” alloy wheels on higher specification models. Function isn’t sacrificed for form, though, and you’ll find bright halogen headlamps to light up the track ahead, and a strong towing hook on the rear for hauling trailers.
Inside the spacious cabin, you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable driving experience, including Bluetooth connectivity. There are no frills or fancy extras (after all, this is a working vehicle), but it’s still incredibly comfortable with exceptional suspension for smoothing out those bumpy tracks.
The Land Cruiser has always had a strong on-road presence, and the Pick-Up version is no different. Striking, with a high point of view for the driver and passengers, it cuts a dashing figure on tarmac as well as when it’s pushing through tricky desert or jungle terrain. The improved stability of the 2021 models means that body roll – something that old Land Cruisers tended to suffer from – has been all but eliminated, so the Pick Up feels stable and planted even at speed.
At Toyota UAE, we think that the Land Cruiser is easily in the same class for practicality, performance, and style as its cousin the Hilux. And with plenty of great deals on leasing and buying on offer, there’s never been a better time to upgrade to a 2021 Land Cruiser Pick Up. For fleet managers, there’s the option of leasing with simple monthly payments and all servicing included in the price. If you want to buy outright then there’s plenty of financing options on offer at Toyota UAE, including some great deals on trade-ins, where you’ll get the full market value for your old car to put against the price of a new Pick Up.
